Job Summary

Company Description

We’re making Maryland stronger!
With roots that go as far back as 1895, the UM Rehab & Ortho Institute continues to be a pioneer in orthopedics and neurological disorders. From bones to brains, our cutting-edge hospital heals even the most serious of injuries, specializing in everything from total joint replacement to spinal cord injuries and neurological condition. In total, our 141-bed facility welcomes over 3,000 patients every year. As the state’s largest provider of inpatient rehabilitation services, we offer some of the most advanced therapies for stroke, spinal cord injury, traumatic brain injury, orthopedic and sports injury, among many others.

The Spinal Cord Injury Rehabilitation Program at the University of Maryland Rehabilitation & Orthopaedic Institute helps people with a spinal injury achieve their highest level of independence. Patients receive physical, occupational, speech/language and recreational therapy six days a week. Patients admitted to the inpatient portion of the Spinal Cord Injury Program must be able to actively participate in three or more hours of daily therapy. The length of stay for spinal cord injury patients is between two to eight weeks depending on individual needs. Over 80 percent of our patients return home after discharge. The Spinal Cord Injury Program places a strong emphasis on patient/caregiver education and is one of only two facilities in Maryland accredited by the Commission on the Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF).
